Mechanical Engineering Portfolio
Hello!
My name is Leslie, and I’m a fourth year at Tufts majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I come from a farming family whose love for innovation inspired my passion for product design, manufacturing, and sustainable technologies.
At Tufts, I am a researcher in Engineering Education (currently editing a paper for publishing!), the president of the student DEIJ Mechanical Engineering Board, a STEM and Engineering ambassador, a mentor for first-generation and/or low-income students, and a Learning Assistant for Electromechanical Systems and Robotics, Materials and Manufacturing I, and Engineering Design I.
Aside from academically-centred activities, I love to read dystopian classics and cookbooks, attempt to cook, listen to history podcasts, and explore the outdoors.
Projects
Experiment analyzing the optimal disk layouts for a magnetic braking system that uses eddy-currents and their effect on heat distribution.
Project using systems and controls to make a two-link arm draw a rectangle. Used DC motors.

Project involving an Arduino MKR WiFI, a stepper motor, and rack and pinion to play soccer with a user.
